Frequently asked questions
How do we get started?
If you are interested in starting therapy together please be in touch via email. I will gladly answer any questions you might have, and then we will schedule an assessment session. The assessment session is an opportunity for us to slow down, discuss what has been challenging for you, and talk about how therapy might help. We’ll work towards discerning if I feel like the right fit for you, and if I feel like I can match your needs. Before the assessment session, I’ll send you some paperwork to fill out on our secure client portal.
How long does therapy take?
Depending on your needs, therapy can be short-term (less than six months) or long-term, depending on how chronic the issues are, the complexity of your challenges, and other factors. We can discuss on an initial phone call.
How frequent and long are sessions?
For most clients, I meet with them weekly or twice-weekly. Sessions are 45 minutes.
Do you take insurance?
The Moses Collaborative is not in-network with any insurance provider. Instead, we are an out-of-network provider for all insurances. If you have out-of-network benefits you will be responsible to pay for your sessions and after you submit a superbill provided by us, your insurance will reimburse a part of that fee (what percentage depends on your insurance and plan).
Do I have out-of-network benefits?
Call the phone number at the back of your card and ask to speak to someone about your benefits. Questions to ask are: do I have out-of-network coverage? Do I have a deductible? If so, how high is my deductible? You should also ask about what the process is for submitting claims to get reimbursed. We would be happy to help guide you through this process, if needed.
What are your fees?
Engaging in psychotherapy requires commitment of time, money and energy. I am happy to discuss fees on the phone/email and I do reserve limited spots in my schedule for sliding scale clients. I know how difficult it is to find a therapist and how expensive the process can be. In order to make it easier, I offer a free initial phone consultation.
What kinds of artistic work do you do?
When I’m not working with therapy clients, I’m a composer and musician working at the juncture of music and theater. My award-winning theatrical work has been produced off-Broadway and regionally, and has been featured in the New York Times and New York Magazine. I’m also in demand as a record producer for eclectic indie artists, while my choral arrangements and original compositions are in frequent use across the country.
